I'm so glad you've stopped by!

I am a FILMMAKER with a primary focus on directing. Depending on the budget, I will DP, AC, operate camera and/or edit picture. I also have experienced running sound/boom, griping and being a set PA. I am also a WRITER (screenplays, shorts, marketing, UI), and a PHOTOGRAPHER (head shots, family portraits, events).

My side projects include DESIGNING GAMES (board games, party games, mobile), and MAKING THINGS (costumes, theater props, set pieces for themed parties).

For 13 years, I held many positions in software development (mobile and web) as a Product Owner, Project Manager, QA Manager, and QA Tester.

I grew up in rural Maine, attended Emerson College in Boston for two years as a film major. I transferred to the University of Southern Maine my junior year and studied and performed theater, then later finished up my BA in media studies. I currently reside in Los Angeles, California.

I also love playing drums and guitar, science, technology, camping, video games, dreaming up software applications, many music genres, and of course, film.

Filmmaking, in Summary

At age twelve, I borrowed a friend's VHS camcorder and made my first video skit - and knew instantly that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I made a TON of videos in those middle school and high school years, made a TON of mistakes and learned so much by doing (this was before the internet!). I became very good at shooting for the edit (as I had no means to edit all those years), and that skill has helped me cut in my head and visualize how shots will look juxtaposed with each other.

I went to a far too expensive film school for a couple years, then transferred to a more afordable school and rounded out my education in theater. Throughout school and for a few years after graduation, I held a wide range of jobs while still making shorts, and writing features. Occasionally I would nab a freelance video gig; some promos, live stand up, weddings, etc. For a few years I worked at a portrait studio were I learned how to work with clients in a fast paced environment.

CUT TO:

Finally moved to LA... and got sucked into the software industry. The pay was decent, the work was steady, and I was good at my job. So I let thirteen years slip by. Oops. But I still carved out time on the weekends to practice my filmmaking skills, and collect gear. I wrote/directed/DPed/edited many shorts, and a 24 episode instructional comedy web series that has gotten some awards. If the opportunity arose, I was paid for shooting scenes for actor demo reels, promos, shorts, headshots, music videos, video editing, and event photography.

I am currently looking for freelance opportunities. Contact me and tell me about your project!
