Intro

As a kid I created a few board games (construction paper kind of stuff). I had a few years in my 20's where I worked at a mobile software company where I designed a couple phone games (design and spec documents only). Later, I designed and self published the board game “Dune Diggers” (which net me a regional finalist in a national game design competition) with some innovative game mechanics.

I currently have a second board game in the works, as well as a party game - both I plan on self publishing in the future (or sell!).

I invented a board game!

Dune Diggers is a fun family adventure game for 2 to 4 players that can be played in about 45 minutes. You play a ruthless scoundrel of an archaeologist who has just found the fabled Dune of Nullivian - a mother lode of artifacts and treasures. Problem one: your adversaries followed you there. Problem two: the dig site is on the side of a giant dune, and each time you dig, the dune collapses. Can you collect the largest sum of riches before your opponents?

My wonderful girlfriend and I had been on a board game kick for a couple weeks, choosing a few friendly games and an iPod mix over television after dinner. I guess game design, themes, rules, and mechanics seeped through my sub-conscience and  well, Dune Diggers just kinda popped into my head. The basics anyway. I was looking for some procrastination excuses for a feature script I was writing, and a couple film editing projects, so I spent the next few months driving my girlfriend and friends crazy with silly drawings on index cards. I got some excellent feedback and eventually hired a fantastic artist to make my vision come to life. I found a great online printing company for the cards, and bought a mass quantity of dice and game pieces from independent sellers. The custom printed bags came from an online manufacturer. Most of the time passing from the initial idea to the present (about 1 year) has just been waiting for a little extra cash to siphon off my paychecks. And then - BAM! I'm a self-published game designer.
